Having vital importance for Istanbul, the construction of Atakoy Biological Treatment Plant has began in 24 May 2007 and it has constructed for 2,5 years.
The operation period is completed in November 2014 and the plant has been handed over succesfully to the Employer.
The plant has costed 108.000.000 € and has began to comission at the beginning of 2010. The first stage of the plant is 400.000 m3/day and the capacity will be increased to 600.000 m3/day after commissioning the second stage. Population equivalent is 1.600.000 person in the first stage and 2.500.000 person inthe second stage.
The wastewater from Bakirkoy, Bahcelievler, Bagcilar and a part of Kucukcekmece and Sultangazi districts are treated in the plant. The wastewater polluting Ayamama and Tavukcu creeks before are treated in the Atakoy Biological Treatment Plant now.
